Education Ministers to Meet in Mauritius

DONORS and African Ministers of Education across Sub-Saharan Africa converge in Mauritius on Wednesday for the sixth biennial conference of the Association for the Development of Education in Africa (ADEA).

Question regarding hotel amenitites

Hello.
In the bungalow section, I'm a little confused as to the hotel amenities offered
and I was hoping one of the forum readers may be able to clarify.
In the listing, it says that the rooms have in-room shower.
But then it will say
Toilette separately: Yes.
Does this mean that the facilities are in the room or down the hall?
Another question I have is this:

Mauritian Residents

During the period under review, the number of Mauritian residents travelling abroad regressed by 1.3% from 121,705 in 2002 to 120,180 in 2003 and accounted for 18.2% of total departures. The number of nights spent by tourists during the period January to September 2003 is estimated at 5.0 million, up by 3.5% over the same period of 2002

Gross Tourism Receipts

Data from the Bank of Mauritius indicate that gross tourism receipts for the period January to September of 2003 were of the order of Rs 13,253 million, edged 0.6% lower when compared to Rs 13,329 million for the corresponding period of 2002.

Hotel Statistics

At the end of September 2003, there was a total of 96 registered hotels in operation. Owing to renovation, four hotels were not operational. The total room capacity for these registered hotels in operation was 9,425 with 19,249 bed places. The room occupancy rate for all hotels for the first nine months of 2003 averaged 61% while the bed occupancy rate was 54%.

Tourist Arrivals, January to September 2003

Tourist arrivals for the first nine months of 2003 rose by 3.8% from 482,585 in 2002 to 500,846 in 2003. Further details are given in Tables 3 to 6.

Around 90% of the tourists came mainly for holidays while 4.6% were on business/conference trips, and another 3.4% were in transit (Table 4).

PARIS (AFP) - The dodo, an ungainly-looking Indian Ocean bird which became a synonym for extinction when it died out some 300 years ago, probably survived nearly three decades beyond the date commonly given for its disappearance, scientists believe.
