Belle Mare Plage

Hi All,

Could someone tell me what the beach at Belle Mare Plage is like ?. Do you have to be careful of coral when swiming or is coral further off shore ?.

Could someone also inform me what the prices of drinks at the resort are ? ( beer , soft drink , coffee , basic spirit )

Hi Suzi,

the beach is one of the nicest in Mauritius. Most of the people walk without any shoes, I think it's fine like that. Just be a little careful (coral-pieces).

The hotel is beatuiful. The extras are 5-star-hotel prices - not more not less.
Coke: around 70 MRS
Beer: around 80 MRS
Coffee: around 60 MRS
Wine (bottle) as from 600 MRS
Rhum (glas): around 90 MRS

note: important spirits are much more expensive!

hi,

I wouldn´t go in without shoes because of coral-pieces and sea-urchins, i have been in the water snorkeling in front of belle mare plage hotel during my holidays.
But it´s a nice place for watersports and relaxing.

The Beach from Belle Mare Plage is really beautiful. You can go without shoes in the water, but you must be careful. I was always without shoes.

it depends where you take your swim at belle mare plage, if in front of a hotel, then it should not be a problem, but further down at belle mare plage public beach i wouldn't go in without shoes - many sea hedgehog, sharp coral pieces and sometimes a stone fish can pass your way.
during low tide watch out for the corals, they are sometimes only 30 cm under surface.
