Tourist Information

Postby steevann2 » Wed Jan 26, 2011 0:23

Is it suitable to use English 3-pin plugs for electrical items, i.e. laptops, camera chargers etc. I believe the electricity is like English (240 volts)
I staying in The Tamassa hotel, do they change travellers Cheques?
Is it necessary to use plastic shoes for the beach?, and is it stony or sandy?
What is around the hotel to see; do; any other info would be gratefully appreciated.

Normally the hotels (at least the ones I was in) have these queer :wink) english plugs.
But you can also buy some multiplug adapters here (or maybe get them at the hotel)

Yes indeed there are english plugs (240V). Beaches are generally sandy, but shoes are recommended ( stone fish and See ingel in stony areas). travellercheques I don t know but suppose not problem with that. Credit cards can be use everywhere (supermarket, hotel, shops). Cash draw at all banks. If you want to change devises go to shibana (best exchange rate).

Enjoy your stay in Mauritius.

Tamassa is a great hotel with a lot of facilities to enjoy. It depends what kind of activities you're looking for. If you want to go out on a fishing trip, they will probably refer you to us since we're nearby on the south west of the island. You can see ahead of time what it's about here: http://www.hookerdeepseafishing.com If you want time exploring the area, it's great to hire a taxi for the day because it's in a beautiful part of the island. Well, it's all beautiful, of course! :)
