Hi

Thanks for the reply...I would be interested in B & B or Half Board.

Sorry was not up with the terminology - till I did a bit of research. :ob

Hope that narrows it down a bit. Have ben trying the net- but only the touristy and expensive place seem to be appearing. Usual the Thorn Tree give me info- but this time not - unfortunatley - then.... I found this marvellous form...

hi dukki,

well - did you already check the hotel "ti fleur soleil" in grand bay? you can get b&b there and i think it's not too expensive - whatever you imagine to be "expensive". with the hotel, there's a "rhumérie", they sell their home made rhum arrangé, local rum with different flavours, with lime, passionfruit, vanilla, almonds, raisins ... - it's worth tasting it. just have a look at it in the internet. in grand bay are some quite nice restaurants where you can take dinner. on the other hand, places having atmosphere, being romantic, will be found mainly not really near to the action.

anyway, i think grand bay is a nice place to stay and in my opinion it is not so crowded and touristic as it is usually described

if you look for a hotel a little outside the village, maybe the "coin de mire" might be ok. from there you will easily find a taxi to go to grand bay in the evening as the busses only run till about 8pm. it takes you about 15min to grand bay.

hi dukki,

In late January we're going to Ocean Villas ( www.ocean-villas.com ). Since I haven't been there yet, I cannot say about this place anything more than I found on their website and in several opinions of their guests. Generally, it's also very close to Grand Baie and, what is worth of mentioning, it offers good accomodation for very competitive price. I only hope that reality won't disappoint us;)

Best regards

Bartek

Will check - I have checked out a couple of others - but as the Euro is three times!!!! my Brunei dollar - it makes for a very expensive jaunt. As South Africa is the main player in my 1 month hols.

But will check it out and if I stay thewilladvise an update :cool

Hi Dukki just seen on virtual tourist website that someone has recommended a place in Grand Bay website villacamille-mu.com and they show a studio room for 25 euros per day. Might be worth a look.
