Hi nypy,

I was in MU from December to January. Being a fishing amateur, I went to Flic en Flac on a couple of occasions but was unsuccesful in reeling in big ones. I had to come back on smaller hooks and only managed to catch quite a bundle of small ones ("vielles noirs and "vielles rouges") dark patched fish and a red type one among rocks.

They taste quite nice deep fried with lemon!!! Any other way of cooking them is not safe coz of their really thin fish bones can easily be swallowed accidentally....

Never had the chance to go out for big ones. Get yourself a boat and a crew. Good luck!!!

well, well, well - this sounds quite promising... Mauritian turtles like big men, but please if you should by mistake take one of my sisters out of the sea be kind enough to through her back in...

So, where do all the dead Marlin's, Sharks & Cie. end up? I read once that participants of the competition hand them over to hotels after taking the obligatory photo. Is this correct?

Have fun and 'Petri Heil' (no idea how this translates into English, sorry...)

hi Mme Tortue

offcourse, if i'll get one :wink)
hope the fishes like big men too, heh
i've never seen a turtle in ocean there, perhaps i am to far from island, and this is first tournament there, but normaly there is possibility to catch and release ( C&R ) big fishes, it depent the organisation of tournament, i'll know better after breafing of tournamment.

last time, when i was there, we could get them to our self and make a dinner of them and rest of them took our local crue

btw, do You know, where i'll find good potatoes there?

well, well, well... I guess if I dared putting 'Uncle Ben's' on the table that would be the end of our marriage...

However all kinds of potatoe based meals (and there's a great variety, believe me!) are not only welcome but cannot be criticised as I'm 'la reine de gratin pomme-de-terre' by birth!

You should try my 'potato-mousse' which is enriched with local flavor: piment. Very, very hot!!!
