Weather on the East Coast in August

Beitragvon ymbam » Mo Jun 18, 2007 22:15

If anybody can answer, please advise what weather I may expect from around the 10th of August until the end of the month (staying on the East).

Many thanks :-)

With reference to your query, I would like to point out the following facts:
Daytime temperatures in august is around 24 degrees centigrades on the east coast.
As it is the mauritian winter in july/august it can be windy on the east cost but it does not get really cold.
Do expect some rainy days though!
Mauritius is a "year round destination" and you should have a nice holiday.

Many thanks Gerard.

Would you advise staying on the West coast rather than the East coast in that case (we were to be staying at Poste Lafayette)? This is a very special holiday for my husband and I and I would like to ensure it is the best possible (we get plenty of rain here in the UK) :-)

Hi Ymbam,
I fully agree with you about the rain in the uk ( I have lived in the north east of England for the past 34 yrs and we have a lot of it here :-) )
I originally come from Mauritius, hence my knowledge of the mauritian weather.
The westcoast is more sheltered ie; Flic en Flac, Tamarin, Le Morne and Grand Bay and I would personally would go to one of these areas, Grand Bay would offer more night life and Flic en Flac is quite nice too. The temperatures are usually about 2 degrees higher on the west coast and they have less rainy days.
Hope you find these facts useful,
Regards,

Thanks Yvonne,
La Pirogue hotel at Woolmar ( flic en Flac) ideal for a romantic holiday and in the North, The Maritim hotel is excellent. A place where I stayed is Ocean Villas which is close to Grand bay, the rates are reasonable and it is ideally situated for night life, entertainment, shopping etc
