Weather in May

Beitragvon el_monty » Fr Feb 27, 2009 0:25

Hi
I'm new to the forum. My fiancee and me are planning to go to Mauritius in May for our honeymoon. It would be from the 11th to the 22nd of May. I have a friend who went in July and had good weather, but then again I have read posts in other forums from people who were there in May and felt cheated by the weather.
Since there are people here who actually live in Mauritius or who know the island well, I wanted to ask what you think we can expect in those dates.
Thank you very much. I'm really looking forward to this trip!

Congratulations on getting married.

You'll find that May is actually a great month for weather in Mauritius. You'll get a little rain, but it won't bum you out.

It will be warm, but not too hot, and most days you'll be able to expect sunshine.

Cyclone season finishes in April, which means you'll be arriving in the most stable weather.

Thank you leaving_mauritius for your reply.

I have now found out that the weather may be worse in the east coast (where we are staying) than in the west. Much worse, you think? Would it be advisable to change our reservation to a hotel on the west coast?

Thank you again.

Hello el monty,

greetings from the East! Well, comes 30 April we usually start wearing heavy coats, gloves and knitted caps... :wink)

Seriously: May is still okay in the East. June to August it gets colder and you might have more rain in the east than elsewhere. However it's still NOT really cold, just not what you expect from a tropical island.

Thank you very much to all

Thank you very much to all. I am now much more relaxed. We're having the coldest winter in Spain of the last 35 years, you see, so I was a bit wary about being cold in my holidays too! Now I see that I need not worry about it. I'm eager to get to know your country!
