Yes gimme some time....

Just wanted to let you know that these sega lyrics do not seem right. Where did u get them from?

Ohh 1 last thing, a direct translation in English will not really be meaningful so there are going to be some modifications.

Regards

udester

I've tried a direct translation but some lines might not make sense.
Present tense of the sega in creole actually refers to an action that has already happened so that's why the translation is in the past tense.

What do other Mauritians think? Does it make sense? I guess not :Q

Ti Frere Roseda

When I woke up in the morning, I rushed to go to work
(When I woke up in the morning, I rushed to go to work)
Once the six o'oclock bell rang, I came back in our yard
Once in the yard I saw our girl sat near a fire
She was playing near the fire holding ashes in her hand

I swear I came to her and asked her : Where is your mother?
(I swear I came to her and asked her : Where is your mother?)
She told me : Mum went to the Chinese Grocery, the Chinese Grocery near Corp De Garde*)
I rushed to the grocery, I could hear people talking loudly
Gossiping with the Chinese owner she was holding a glass of rhum in her hand

I got so angry
I felt such a wave of anger
That anger...
That anger made me grab her back to our yard
Come Roseda Come Roseda
Young and sacred lady, Little lady
Living your youth this way...
(Such a beautiful lady, little lady
Living your youth this way)

*Corp de Garde is a mountain found in the Plaines Wilhems disctrict not far from the town of Quatre-Bornes

"Prisoner" by Alain Ramanisum

The bell of domination is ringing
All the prisoners get up
They rush to get alligned for the morning inspection
Looking forward for their duties
Some will make it to the yard
Others wil go to the kitchen
With all those trades
That we share within the Administration

I know it ain't easy
But I know it's difficult
We don't have any choice than to accept it
Because this is our sentence
Those who try their luck
Have experienced real bad luck
But this is life
The only thing you need now is patience

Prisoner, Prisoner
They don't have any religious prejudice
As the handcuffs are the same colour

Prisoner, Prisoner
You are in my thoughts
I'm speaking out of my heart

Prisoners who have't got anybody visiting them
They get their courage from friends
Sometimes they think about God
To cheer up
No matter if it's Riche Lieu* or Ti Verger*
No matter if it's even Grande Riviere* or Beau Bassin*
When you lots hear this song
I hope you realise that this song is made for you

I know it ain't easy
But I know it's difficult
We don't have any choice than to accept it
Because this is our sentence
Those who try their luck
Have experieced real bad luck
But this is life
The only thing you need now is patience

* Those four words are actually towns and villages where our judiciary system has got prisons implemented.

"Separation" by Cassiya

Who wouldn't really like
To live together under the same roof
With our beloved mother and father
Together
As a single family

How many parents separate?
Without thinking about the impacts on the children
Leaving them wandering about on their own, those poor kids
They struggle to find something to eat
To relieve that hunger so that they can walk
So that they can talk

Indeed, to fill their empty stomachs, those pood kids
To be able to laugh
To be able to sing
Please hear my advice
Children who are in this situation

The importance of thankfulness
To improve the lives of poor people
Everybody together*

Hand in hand
We pray to God
In the life of a couple

A wife needs only one husband
A husband needs only one wife
So that their children
Don't lose their roots
Don't lose their paths
In the future

Don't lose their roots
Don't lose their paths
In the future

As I'm singing today
My heart is full of regret
My parents are separated
Now our mother is....

She's suffered a lot
She's still suffering
For her children

Ohh, She's suffered a lot
She's still suffering
For her children

*asks chorus to sing along
