That thing you saw creeping in the house, its called a grass snake (couleuvre in french). They just extend and retract, shed skin, thats it
! I dunno why they call it grass snake in English but in French its not called a snake in direct translation.
There are no real snakes in the wild on the Main Island.
The snakes can only be found on Ile Plate or Ile Ronde (2 islands) and they are not venonimous so no sweat.
Yeah Mme Tortue is right concerning the sea snakes, some can be venonimous so don't even think about touching one.
Did u know that's its a kind of bad omen (that's what mauritians think) when u see a grass snake in the house.
