Relocating to Mauritius

Beitragvon Tereshonok » Do Jun 30, 2005 16:56

Hello everybody,

I'm the lucky one who got a contract in Mauritius and therefore will be relocating there for a year or two at the end of July

Please help me with some info on the following:

1. Accommodation - I'm looking for a nice one or two-bedroom flat or house on the beach, fully furnished, not too expensive but nice. Any ideas of how much the rent would cost me per month? And what are the best areas to live - secure, quiet, accessible by public transport? (I will be working in Port Louis).

2. Cost of living - how much do you think a single 25-year old woman would spend per month?

Even an approximation would help a lot, because now I am totally clueless about what to expect when I come to Mauritius... Thanks guys!

hi Tereshonok!
this are very difficult question, as everybody have a different living standard and wishes.
i thing you better look in the north or west coast, as you need to work in port louis.
rent could be from 8000rs to 25000rs.

i know young woman like Paris Hilton they spend a lot     :wink)
again difficult to tell, as it is depending on what you do in your free time, spending time in the hotels, will cost.
but if you think in the way, that a good mauritius earning for local people is ~20000rs, you can count for your self.

hope it helps

LOOKING FOR A FLAT!!!!!!!

Beitragvon Tereshonok » Fr Aug 12, 2005 14:07

I'm finally here, it's my second week and I love it here already.... i:()

BUT: I am desperately looking for a flat and dont see much hope because everybody offers me those touristic "per-night" rates and i definitely cant afford it for the whole year I'm going to be here!

So, good people of Mauritius - I APPEAL TO YOU! :he()

If YOU or YOUR FRIENDS or your grandmother's cousin's daughter-in-law's neighbours RENT OUT a flat or KNOW anybody who does, here's what I'm looking for:

Location: North, not far from the bus stop (I work in Port Louis) and not too far from the beach...
Standard set of furniture
Size: 1-2 bedrooms
Duration: 1 year, possibly more
Starting date: 1 September 2005
Budget: Rs 7,000-10,000 per month

Please let me know if you hear of something.... Network is power!

Greetings to all,

P.S.: WELL DONE STEPHAN!!! :ploppop

your search for a place to rent in mauritius last year

Beitragvon rberc » So Mär 05, 2006 8:37

Very interested to know how this turned out. We are considering spending 6-12 months in Mauritius. Did you end up finding an affordable place to rent? What was your experiencein this regard?

Have a look under www.servihoo.com "Petites Annonces"
There they also offer accommodation (houses, apartments). Not only for tourists. I have rented an apartment in Péreybère for Rps 5.000,00/month.

Regards
