Public transport - busses

Postby pepe » Tue Feb 10, 2004 13:54

Hi guys,
Does anyone of you know any web page where I can find buses lines and maybe timetables in mauritius? Or maybe some more practical info about public transportation in Mauritius.
Thanks in advance.

Hi pepe

Schedule of the bus you can find in the book: Guide Pratique

ypou get it:
In the Internet as download under - Guide Pratique - Transport
or mail to me, I send you copies of the busschedule per mail.

How to use the bus:
In front of the bus you can read the destination

you step in the bus and sit down
the best is to sit on the side with no sun

the conductor will come and you say him where you will go
he will tell you the price and you pay with small money
And than, you must get a ticket, take care to it,

there will be a controll very often.

Mont Choisi - Cap Malheureux 17 MUR
Mont Choisi - Pereybere 14 MUR
Mont Choisi - Port-Louis 19 MUR

To leave the bus: ring the bell before

Busstations to change the bus:
in all big villages like: Port Louis,Goodlands, Centre de Flacq, Curepipe
The busses runs from 5.30 am - 8.00 pm

At 8.00 pm the last bus will go to Port Louis from Grand Baie
In Grand Baie next to the restaurants La Jonque , every 30 minutes a expressbus is going to Port Louis

I don't know a timetable, go to the busstop an wait, the busses run very often in regions with many villages.
Less only in the mountains.

kinly regards anne

as for us it was a little bit confusing, where those buses went to; we asked always the guy with the ticket machine, if the bus is going the direction we wanted. As all Mauritian people are very friendly, they will help you all the time.
Enjoy your visit
