I don't see any problem at all. Nowadays it's not that important to have a cool photographer - just ask your friend to take a few hundred photos and select the best of them! I'm sure, that each tenth photo will be really of high quality or even better than those few photos made by a professional photographer (which will cost you a few hundred dollars). Nowadays expensive photo-camera can do the greater part of the photographer's work.
