i think you shut be more precise, you gone drink where?
local bar? 5 star hotel?
but i believe you answer your question by your self, duty free or local?
why we have duty free on the airport
all imported alcohol is expensive.
here you get very good local rum, so if you like drinking stay with the rum.
hope it solve your question
regards

Hello!

Depends on what you want to drink!

Local beer and Rum is cheap (and tastes good!) if you buy it in the shops, wine is rather expensive, as it is imported (mostly from South Africa).

Hey there!

I would definitely recommend the local beer- Phoenix, produced in Mauritius. Last time I was there it was sooo cheap, well under a pound for one of the huge bottles (like the giant Grolsch one's here) - a good choice!

Also, as already mentioned above- local Rum is ridiculously cheap too! A few pounds at the most for some brands- one I remember (white rum) was Green Island- very good.

Haven't bought form Duty Free over there, but would say that the alcohol is so cheap in the supermarkets (make sure you look around though) that you won't need to buy elsewhere!

:bier) Good luck
