heard from my father in law that they stopped the project partially. I made too much trouble, the signs didn't seem to be in the norm.
Looks like they will keep it only for new cars.

Hi,

on all new license numbers the name and address of the company, who has made it, should be visibly written on the plate
This is to ensure that not the driver gets the trouble in case the police stops a vehicle with plates that do not fullfill the new conditions.
For cars its white with black letters in teh front.
For motorbikes its yellow/black in the rear and black/white in the front.
Thats all I meanwhile know.
Got this information this from a police officer, who also could not tell me, what's the final date for changing the license numbers without getting fined.
Gruss, Joe

Most governments require a registration plate to be attached to both the front and rear of a vehicle, although certain jurisdictions or vehicle types, such as motorcycles, require only one plate, which is usually attached to the rear of the vehicle. National databases relate this number to other information describing the vehicle, such as the make, model, color, year of manufacture, engine size, type of fuel used and mileage recorded during the vehicles annual (or bi-annual) road worthiness test, Vehicle identification (Chassis) Number and the name and address of the vehicle's registered owner or keeper.

You shouldn't have any problem if you have a german driving license: We once been stopped and my wife was listening to the policemen talking. One said go ask the guy (me) while the other, a younger one, was probably afraid to do so because I speak german. [biggrin]
