Money

Beitragvon des » Mi Jun 18, 2008 21:15

Hi there

We're coming to Mauritius next week for our honeymoon. Really looking forward to being there.

I was wondering about the money situation. It is better to get Rupees or Euro's? I get conflicting info in the UK.

It is easy to get Euro's in the UK but not Rupees. Usually when I go abroad I use an ATM/cash machine locally on arrival. Are these readily available in Mauritius? Do they charge a small fee?

Any info gratefully received.

Regards

Absolutely no need to purchase MUR at home. There are ATMs everywhere. It's YOUR bank which will charge a fee. Check with them about the amount.

You can also bring some £ bills (small ones) and change them, if need be.

Enjoy your holiday.

PS: I've some friends over there right now. Be prepared for rather so-so weather (it's Mauritian winter now). It can be fine, but not really hot. Pack also something warm (pashmina) for the evenings.

Hi,
Your UK bank will NOT charge a fee if you use the AMSs in Mauritius.I live in Mauritius, but my Bank account is in the UK, and I have never been charged a fee.

If you use a credit card you will get charged a fee as usual.

Rate for the rupee is currently about 52 to 54 rupees for a GBP.

Have a nice holiday.
