I love Mauritius!!- Any new nightlife?

Beitragvon Slinkythang » Mo Mär 14, 2005 15:50

 Hi Everybody, have just discovered this forum- so my first posting today!
I'm very fortunate to have been introduced to visitied your paradise island a few times now, thanks to having a boyfriend with Mauritian parents.
We usually stay in our place in Trou aux Biches, but travel all around the island to family and friends.
Being young people who like to enjoy ourselves when we are there(!) we enjoy the nightlife and usually go out in Grand Baie, starting at the Banana Cafe- which has a great relaxed atmosphere, and then onto one of the nightclubs. I've been to Stardance, the club near it (can't remember the name?) & Zanzibar, but one of the best nights out was in a club not in the north of the island. I would love to go there again, but could never remember where it was? We were driven there late by Mauritan cousins- could have been near or in Beau Bassin??It just looked like a huge shack with a metal roof, but inside the atmosphere was amazing & mainly locals- any ideas what club this was?
Where would all you fun Mauritians suggest going next time we visit- we love most types of music, but especially R'n'B, Hip Hop, Reggae etc...somewhere with a great&friendly atmosphere & a good mix of locals and visitors (not just a tourist spot!)
Sorry for being so long....thanks & cna't wait to visit Mauritius soon :ploppop

Nightlife

Beitragvon MmeTortue » Mi Mär 16, 2005 16:05

actually, we go to bed....

Hi Slinkythang, I wish I could be of help but there are two obstacles preventing me of doing so:

1. I'm working from 6am to 4pm Monday to Friday :phone) ,enjoying outdoor activities otherwise and there is a certain limit to my ability getting on without sleep (in short: I'm an old git!) :::(

2. We live in the beautiful town (did I just write town?) of Mahebourg and nightlife only takes place in beds, TV parlours, the so called casino or one of the three hotels in the area (tired sunburned tourists dozing away in the hotel bars... :zzz) ). Our few attempts visiting discos in Quatres Bornes were'nt exactly the hit and Grand Baie is to far away...

Let's hope some of the young, fresh tourists will take heart and give you some advice. :rock)

\:D/ Thank you Mme Tortue! I'm sure you're not an 'old git' but very funny anyway!!
Yes, I quite agree, a great way to spend those warm, late evenings in Mauritius is to relax & sleep, but not being lucky enough to live there all year round, I gotta sample a bit of nightlife too!

Thanks for your response, it's so cool being able to link with Mauritius in this way, makes me wanna visit the paradise isle so bad!- hopefully next year- though I want to come sooner!
More ideas and hello's guys- let me know what's going on in Mauritius at the moment......xx :peace)

Club in Mauritius

Beitragvon kev-197 » Mi Mär 23, 2005 16:27

Hiya,

The club u went in Beau Bassin was Saxophone. Since u live in Uk, u shud try the parties organised by Mauritianparty.com or rithmo.com. They r equally, if not better than the parties in Mauritius. My best club in Mauritius is El Diablo@Grand Bay. The only problem is that it's a private club. But being in Mauritius, u can get in anywhere with the right contacts!

Actually there is party@Sound Bar on 24/03/05 in Leicester Square, u will like it.Check the website www.mauritianparty.com.

Take care,
KC

I went to Stardance last Saturday night. Got a ride there on the back of a newfound friend's motorbike. Quite an experience to be riding along, on wet roads, and holding a conversation!! I was, like "how about you watch the road and we'll talk when we get there!?" Still, was a lot of fun and I had a great night. My only regret was doing a bit of a Cinderella thing in the morning. I'd told my friend who had stayed home "If I'm not back by morning send someone looking for me!!" Only joking but fully expecting to be home by the time the sun was up. Well... I met this lovely man and we danced and we danced and we danced...and then the club closes and I'm thinking "Oh, must be 3am or so..." and we talked. We had a real "soul connection" happening (truly!) and then we walk outside to see it is full daylight!!! I took off like a mad thing (the friend was NOT happy!) and I never saw him again. :::(

 Hi everybody- thakns for all your replies..Timambo, Kev, Vicky. Promise I will get back to answering all of them at some point.

Hey Vicky :ploppop Your experience sounds so cool- the first time I went to Mauritius I couldn't shake the place either- have so many happy memories!
Don't fret though, you never know- you may just meet your new found friend again one day- you just gotta visit Mauritius again.
I really wanna come over again soon- but such a long way for me- 12 hours on a plane, but so worth it! i would love it to be this year, but looks like it's gonna be 2006 before I come to the l'ile paradis again!

Keep all your comments coming everyone, it keeps me happy being connected to Mauritius! xx :peace)
