June 2009 Fishing

Beitragvon CFB2505 » Do Mär 26, 2009 1:36

Hi

I was wondering if anyone can help on some info. Both me and a best mate are going to be staying at the Legends Hotel, North Est of the Island in June 09.

Does anyone know if we can fish from the beach near buy, or rent small boats our selfs for the day and go out fishing on the reefs ?

We plan to fish every day, we will book a few deep water trips, but will check this out when we get there. i know its not the best time of year, however i am sure theres still plenty of fish in the sea ?

we are after any big type of fish over 30lbs, from small shark etc, can this bee done from the beach ?

Not too worried about the weather in June, but any info will do.

(we fished a lake for 3 days about 8 weeks ago in the UK and the lakes froze, and the temp dropped to -12 0C, we are hard core anglers)

Any information would be most appriciated.

Many thanks

CFB

hello CFB,

There are indeed a bunch of hardcore anglers on this forum as well but I don't think they are in Mauritius at this time of the year.

Although you're staying in the NE part of the island, you don't have to limit your fishing to that part only and I hope you get the chance to go to Grand Baie (NW), Black River( West) where there are big game fishing specialised firms. I'm sure your hotel will be able to advise you when you get there.

I'm not sure you will be able to rent a boat all for yourselves but you will be able to rent one with a skipper in it (new law or something like that). Just think of him as a guide. What I used to do is to pay some money to a local village fisherman to take us the whole day the last time I had some mates over to visit. However that was in the South part at "Le Morne"

No you won't get over 10lbs casting from the beach. You can get 15-20lbs in the lagoon if you're lucky (in a boat obviously) but the biggies are in deeper waters. Did some search on the yellow pages for you:

You might try these.

I miss fishing so much.....can't really fish here in the NE of England with this crappy weather :D

heh, nice to see other hard core fishers

we had here -32 celcius, so you have trained ok, well come to finland too.

but you can try this one

http://www.morneanglers.com/

you can get all information and boats from there, but i think , it's not best time for big game fishing, but you can find some nice fishes all time of year , best fishing season is from december to april

Hey nypy,

Hope everything is ok! I was looking at last year's result. What happened to your team?
