January/February, which side better?

hallo everybody,

this's my first topic on this forum, so let me introduce myself - my name is Bartek and am Polish.

I'm going to visit Mauritius in January/February 2006 and don't know which side of the island to choose. Because of the weather, it seems that north and north-west coast is better. From the other side, looking at the photos from Mauritius, I find beaches on the east side better than on the north side. What would you suggest? I'm going to Mauritius with my wife and 5 years old kid, so the quality and safety of the beach is quite important to me. However, the weather is even more important;)

Jan/Feb is our summer and the hottest period of the year. Suggest therefore East coast as there is a slight cooling wind (will be highly appreciated).
Belle Mare is a good beach, also for small kids.

thank you for suggestion. What about the rain? Isn't it more wet on the east coast?
