Help decide relocate to Mauritius

Beitragvon tobe » Mo Dez 03, 2007 19:53

I have received a job offer & I am planning to relocate to Mauritius. I have a few clarifications before I decide :

1) Salary pm offered is 130,000 MUR
2) Job location is Port Loius

I would like to know if the amount is decent to sustain a family of 3 (me, my spouse & my 3 yr old daughter)
How much will be a decent apartment cost me around my work area. Is there any website I can look for apartments & charges.
Same for the cars. Will I be able to afford one for myself.
Where can I find the details about the cost of living. I am of Indian origin.

How much will I be able to save for myself ?
I heard its an expensive country. Any idea how much expensive its compared to India.

Should I consider my relocation ?

hi tobe, the question would be, how much you need to live?
your salery sounds that you could and should have a very comfortable living here.
everything it's deepening on your needs, what do you need, to have a good stay?

just see the point that a average worker earns 4000MUR

Thanks Stefan for your response.

I dont wanna lead a pretty hi-fi life. wanna have the basic necessities required like good apt for rent, a car & occasional outing with family.

I would surely wanna know a good site where I can find
apts for rent. how much rent would be a fully furnished 2 bed room apt be in not to expensive but relative near to my work place.

How much will a new car cost in MUR example toyota corolla or any other mid size car

How much is the present petrol price

Hi tobe,

If you're looking for apartments, I've put 2 of the largest internationally recognised property developers below:

Although you are not allowed to advertise in this section of the forum, helping people narrow their search is something else. I assume that you will be working in the IT field and perhaps in one of the cyber towers like some of your fellow people.

Try to find one near to where you will be working and don't forget that Mauritius is a small island and it takes you 1hr and a half to travel from one part to the other....

Hope this helps. Good luck

Hello Tobe,

You will be able to lead a comfortable life with your salary.

As for the area you would like to live in, it also depends on where you work and how much time you would like to spend commuting.

Hi udester, Thanks a lot for the lists. I will surely try to shortlist something

Tortue, as about the place of work the complete address is : Game Theorem, 11th Floor Victoria House, Port Louis, Mauritius. Ideally I would not like my travel time to be more than 30 mins. So please suggest something based on this

Since currently I am not in Mauritius & will be relocating from outside, I would also like if someone can tell me something about this company as well.

Place to stay

Beitragvon justin » Mi Dez 12, 2007 16:23

Hi there

If you are still looking for a house/flat to rent - my wife & I own a 3 bedroom villa in Cap Malheureux which we are looking to rent out at a reasonable price. I guess this would give you a journey time of 30 minutes or so. Email me if you require more info and photos.

In 30 mins you will reach from 22.00 hrs to 05.00 hrs.
In the rush hour can take easily 1hr or more...

I did the journey C.Malheureux to PL for 2 years arriving at work at 07.30. I guess I just missed the rush hour arriving at that time.
