Has anyone experienced sea urchins near Touessrok?

Postby mauritius72 » Mon Mar 03, 2008 20:38

Hello all.

My wife and I are travelling to Mauritius this May (staying at Le Touessrok) but have heard that have been warned of sea urchins around the beach!! I am sure that there are a gazzillion of these things around the coastline but should we be particularly worried around Le Touessrok?? Anyone have any experience of this??

I am sure nothing to worry about.

Also, any tips for taking a small baby to the hotel??

Oh yeah, what about the weather at that time on the East coast??

Thanks - can't wait to get out there!!!

Sorry, can't say anything about the sea urchins. On our day at l'Ile aux Cerfs (where Le Touessrok has a beach as well), we didn't see any. The water is crystal clear. I believe they are to be found rather near rocks.

As for the weather in May on the East coast, it will most likely be windy at times at not terribly hot, especially not in the evenings. May-October is considered 'winter' in Mauritius.
I suggest you have a look at the forum's weather page (look for East coast): ... limate.htm

Usually the hotels check their beaches very early in the morning (when those poor people on holiday are either still asleep or having an early breakfast) for any unwanted subjects.

However the sea isn't a pool and if you want to be sure just buy some rubber shoes to protect yourself and your kid.

Congratulations for staying at Le Toussrok - I only had the pleasure twice being invited there for Dinner. It's a wonderful place, so enjoy!
