Employers and their worries...

Postby Klaus » Sat Oct 04, 2003 3:30

In my humble opinion I think that Mauritian employers are not convinced about the viability of the cybercity project and are worried about the future of the textile industry which they consider to be more vulnerable than the sugar sector.

I believe that employers are rather confident of the success of their own enterprises but quite alarmed on the prevailing economic situation nationally.

Klaus i believe it will take time, to make people understand this new opportunity. the government gives computer loans, so that every mauritian can buy one and as we have soon competition in online provider> it will lower the rates. so even more people will explore the internet and there possibilities.
but i believe it is more for the young generation.
textile is very tuff and really, only innovate companies with motivated workers, will be able to keep it up.
but in the end, is it not like everywhere in the world?
nothing is for ever anymore.

Cybercity

:pp)
Well, Stefan, I agree - more competition will lower the rates for internet access. This is fine - but I am not so sure about the success of Cybercity as well. What is really the sense of this project? Will it be helpful for Mauritius if a lot of indian companies are coming here, including their own staff? Will this create really new jobs for Mauritians? If yes - what jobs?

Hi Michael!
me too, i dit not fully understand the CyberCity project.
as it will be much cheaper to do thinks in India himself, why there shut come here.
but i learned now a bit more, Mauritius is a very stable country in Africa, so, if you want to work with/in africa > mauritius is a good place to do so.
i meet a nother person who invested here in mauritius, yesterday he lock in here, but he have a luck of time. perhaps later he can tell you/us more
about it.

but anyway, i think > it's not a bad idea that the goverment, try it on this way.
what else they can do!?
touristic is ok today.
textial needs to be replaced in the future
so what can we do?
regards
