I had to show my normal drivers license for cars, when I hired the scooter.

in my opinion to travel with a scooter or other bikes is only a good idea when you intend to drive on small remote roads. But be very careful. Every year when I stay in MRU I see bikers who suddenly are forced to swerve to avoid a crash with a car or a bus.

You have an adventurous spirit? Then cities like Port Louis or Quatre Bones are where you need to be with your scooter. That is if you are not afraid of going deaf or having your lungs filled with thick black smoke, amongst other risks in the streets like suddenly emerging pedestrian or dogs.
If a bus overtake you on your scooter you can be sure that a deaf-rendering horn sounds and a few seconds later you a covered with stinking black smoke. In some places you are obliged to cross the lane to avoid a protruding man hole cover, very dangerous for a biker on a rainy day.

I don’t intent to discourage you, but this is unfortunately the current situation on the most roads in MRU.

Have a nice time,

And then, do not forget that they drive on the LEFT... well, they are supposed to, but sometimes, it's in the middle.
