Currency and swimming with dolphins

Beitragvon mmb249 » Do Apr 21, 2011 13:38

Hi

I am visitng Mauritius during May and staying in Point D'Esny. I’d like to enquire about currency, should I get Mauritian rupees from the UK or should I convert cash in Mauritius? I’ve read that the pound will get a higher exchange rate than getting rupees from the UK. Is this true, what is the current rate of rupee to the pound in Mauritius ?

Also I intend to do a days excursion swimming with dolphins, I’ve enquired about this at Mauritius Attractions, has anyone used this company and have and reviews about them?

Many thanks and I look forward to my week holiday on the lovely island

Meena

Dear Meena,

Do not change money in your home country unless you want to get a lower exchange rate.

The rate in Mauritius is much better. When you arrive at the airport in Mauritius you will see a host of exchange bureaus at the arrival halls
PLease check the actual rates here:

Please reconsider swimming with the dolphins. Dolphins are wild creatures which are very sensitive to noise.
Sometimes there are 18-20 boats following the dolphins at flic en flac, how can this be good for the dolphins ?, please do your bit to protect, respect and nuture nature and refrain from "swimming with the dolphins", respect THEIR right to live in THEIR environment without being harassed by speed boats and humans.

would YOU like to be, harassed by boats, engine noise, propeller noise, exhaust fumes, and then stroked and fondled by humans without YOUR permission ?...

Thanks for the information EvaBreuma. I will bring some of my home currency with me.

LeftRight - I will reconsider swimming with dolphins, and agree with you. Its not fair on the lovely dolphins and I should probably do something else. A boat ride to visit an island would be much better.

Thanks again for all your advise
