Hi rex,

There are no websites for supermarkets that I know of. However you can have an insight from the website of the Duty Free shop at the airport. (You can only bring 2 Litres of alcoholic per person)

http://www.mauritiusdutyfree.com/products/product-listings.php?pcid=6

For all the prices quoted add 15% VAT to have a more or less realistic price of the product at local hypermarkets and shops.

Hope this helps

omg 1 piece of advise unless you are taking it out of the country, don't buy from mauritius duty free countrary to popular belief it is actually a lot more expensive to buy there, then in a regular supermarket. For an average bottle of local rum it can be between 70 to 200 mauritian rupees i'm not sure wat the euro equivilant would be look it up on a currency exchange site. For wine its anywhere between 250 (for average) to a couple of thousand for the really good stuff. if you have some brands or types of wine in mind maybe I could get some prices for you

Hello macca06,
Good thing to point out
The duty free is a farce! I was in Mauritius on the 12th December and bought some stuff from the duty free shop. I was fuming when I saw that there wasn't any difference on the cost of some wines and whiskies compared to the prices in some hypermarkets. Same thing goes for chocolate products. In fact some chocolate products were more expensive!!! I really regret for giving advice as a reply to the first topic post. I've expecienced it myself.
Mauritius shopping Paradise my ass....Mauritius Duty Free Hell more like!
They should stop duping people....

Hope this helps

I agree with Ud, the duty free prices are a rip off. I visit at least once a year and buy my rum at the supermarket rather than duty free shop.

I am not sure where Rex is from and can't comment on the champagne but there is a wide variety of wines at varying prices, depends on your budget and taste. Wine from France, South Africa and Australia - you could even try some local wine if you're game but I wouldn't serve it to any guests unless you don't like them much.
