Oktoberfest is a 16-day festival held each year in Munich, Germany, running from late
September to early October. It is one of the most famous events in Germany and the world’s largest fair, with some six million people attending every year, nearly seven million liters of beers drunk, and five hundred thousand grilled chickens eaten. The original “Oktoberfest” occurred in Munich, on October 18, 1810: For the commemoration of their marriage, Crown Prince Ludwig (later King Ludwig 1) and Princess Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen organised a great horse race and the local breweries brewed a special beer for the event. This special recipe became a style of beer of its own right. Only the six main breweries of Munich are allowed to have a tent and sell just one type of beer, and only in 1L glasses called Maß (mass). This means, Oktoberfest is not a festival of beer in general!
Last year we served Loewenbrau Oktoberfestbier. This year we will serve Spaten Oktoberfestbier. We even got the 1L glasses! We will have schnitzel and bretzel for the occasion!
Starting Friday 24th September and until stock lasts...
Werde heute mal vorbeischaun' und dann berichten!
