Interested in immigrating to Canada from Mauritius?

Postby canada » Mon Jan 31, 2011 21:38

Hello all,

I work for an immigration law firm based in Canada and we have been receiving a number of requests from Mauritians about the possibilities of emigrating to Canada.

Being bilingual in French and English, as many Mauritians are, is a huge advantage when applying to Canada. If anyone is interested then please do not hesitate to let me know and I can send you more information and offer you a free consultation.

Quebec is a great destination for Mauritians due to the French language. Quebec has its own immigration system which is weighted towards French speakers which again, is very advantageous for Mauritians.

We are a reputable law firm that has been in practice since 1993 and our managing lawyer is registered with the Law Society of British Columbia. Our fees are reasonable.

I speak both French and English so can help you in either language.

I look forward to hearing from you.

I guess there is always a price to pay to better your life and financial situation I would say but anywhere where it is that cold ain't worth it for warm blooded people. People do adapt.

Good luck to those who are brave enough. I'm too warm hearted and European cold conditions are as far as I want to go.

Ud, you are right !

Only last summer, one of the best friends of my daughter left for Canada (one out off their "gang of 4")
Her parents had both a job here in Reunion, so it was not really a matter of "extreme financial urgency" but more or less of
future perspective.

Prices are often much higher here (islanders problems) and there is a lack in possibilities of climbing up the social ladder.

the gouvernement of Quebec in particular, also sends a promotion delegation here once a year at least. I guess they also show up in Mauritius.
They want to promote immigrants of native French speakers.

This couple, they had working contracts for 2 years before they left. Somewhere in Quebec.
Though, I doubt that they'll make it !
It easier for Reunionese to get around in Europe, and there, the temperatures are not that extreme.
And on our island the economical difference is not that big to Canada.

Though for Mauritians, I believe that it can be the chance of their lives. And many won't hesitate between the canadian cold and the few thousands roupies they can expect to earn for a job in Mauritius.

Aaah Titus you also made me laugh with your weather report - there is a big winter storm here at the moment unfortunately. It is no big deal - we still carry on and plenty of people enjoy the snow and all that it has to offer (skiing etc.). You are right though - Canada is not for everyone.

Saying that, many people enjoy the four season lifestyle - we enjoy summers where the temperature is usually between 25-30 celsius and get lovely white Christmases as well. On top of that we have a strong economy (that has not been battered like many other countries), a stable government and free healthcare and great education. We want immigrants in our country - we are a multicultural nation and need immigrants for our economy to continue to grow.

I myself am Jamaican born and grew up partly in Africa so I do understand the attraction of a tropical country - however I have recently received many enquiries from Mauritians who are looking to move to Canada so that they can offer their children a promising and stable future, which is the reason I posted on this forum. Do not worry, I am not trying to attract you away from your paradise - just looking to offer assistance to those who are looking towards a possible move to Canada.

Enjoy the sunshine and have a good day!

Hello Louise,

This is a fair enough reply. I guess there are indeed a great number of Mauritians who have left for Canada and there are a few local consultancy firms which offer info and visa application services to Canada.
It is also to note that some of them are bogus ones and once they have received the money and sent the mauritians over there; there is not support and aftercare services - in other words these people just land and without the right infrastruture support and help can adapt. I know people who sold their houses to go there to better their lives but it all went tits up for them and they had to come back. A particular person I knew was ashamed people would consider him a failure that he could not make it and had to return. Pure ridicule.

Emmigration is a gamble, a life changing one. Some succeed other fail. It's not really a guaranteed Eldorado. My advice for people who plan to go there is to ensure that the services offered by these people cater for their needs when they get there, get them a p/t job or something and support in filling in all taxes. Another thing is to hook up with other mauritians other there. Although not everyone, there are people willing to help others - some solidarity amongst people.
