The Guyana Water and Sewerage Commission Act to ensure that they are knowledgeable.”In addition, Aaron mentioned that customers must be enlightened about the punishment and penalties for committing the various offences under the Act. He pointed out that citizens must have an understanding that conserving water is not just an individual habit that has to be developed but also, one that has to be transcended into the society as a whole.“The GWI, in that vein, has divided the national education programme into various target audiences with the first being the children. That is why we participated in the children’s Mash competition,” Aaron noted.With a 500-strong band, the GWI, backed by its main theme ‘Water is Life, Save It’, engaged its sensitisation initiative in the month of February. Complementing the theme, Aaron said, are a number of sub-themes, which have been enshrined into the calendars that the entity has been distributing to its customers.“We have an educational calendar that we are distributing where every target audience – children and adults – can learn about various aspects of water conservation.
