My wife and I am planning our honeymoon in Mauritius at the Veranda Hotel. Just wanted to know if anyone has stayed in this hotle or knows anything about it. How is their beach..is the hotel right on the beach or across the road etc..

Any tips for Grand Bay would be appreciated as well

Hallo Sonam,

we stayed at the Veranda Bungalow Village Hotel in Grand Baie (is this the one you refer to?) 5 years ago and liked it very much. It is a rather small and simple hotel, situated directly at the sea - no road to be crossed.

The beach is rather poor, very small and not too nice. But a few hundred meters away there is a public beach, that's much better (although I wouldn't choose Grand Baie for a beach holiday, there are better beaches in other places of the island).

The hotel is designed like a little village, the bungalows are placed in a beautiful garden. And you reach Grand Baie with all its possibilities by foot in only a few minutes.

At the photo gallery you find some brand-new photos of this hotel, which Simmex put there only a few weaks ago.

Hi there !!! My reply may be a little late for you but here goes.... My husband and I along with 2 friends stayed at The Veranda in 2006. It was great. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The four of us renewed our wedding vows there. the staff organised a wonderful celebration and dinner. The pool is great. It is right on the beach and a short walk into town. Thumbs up from us Aussies !!!!! :
